How to Pay for an Expensive Lawsuit

January 15, 2023by Jeffrey Davis

Complex lawsuits like business divorce litigation, intellectual property disputes, and employment litigation are expensive. From a lawsuit perspective, I personally define expensive as legal fees that exceed about $12,000 – $15,000 total. In a business-divorce lawsuits I’ve seen legal fees ranging from $50,000 – $200,000. Well, quite frankly, I’ve never billed a client $200,000 for a lawsuit, but I’ve seen other law firms in litigation and in arbitration do so.
