As my time as a board member of the Women’s Enterprise Development Center comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on what an extraordinary journey it has been.

My involvement with WEDC gave me the opportunity to work with so many talented women business owners, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Along the way, I made wonderful friends, cultivated lasting professional relationships, and had the privilege of helping, advocating for, and educating business owners as they navigated the many challenges that come with building and growing a company.

The experience also opened doors I could not have fully anticipated. My work with WEDC ultimately led to my involvement with Ossining Innovates and helped expand my work supporting military veterans pursuing their own entrepreneurial goals. Each opportunity grew naturally from the relationships, lessons, and sense of purpose that began with WEDC.

For all of it, I am deeply grateful.

Supporting women-owned and minority-owned businesses has always been especially meaningful to me. As a minority business owner and professional, I understand the importance of having access to knowledgeable advocates, trusted advisors, and a strong community.

The work is also personal.

My mother was a highly successful business owner throughout her life. She was someone I deeply admired, and I learned an extraordinary amount from watching her build, lead, adapt, and persevere. Her example shaped how I view entrepreneurship and instilled in me a lasting respect for the courage, discipline, and sacrifice required to run a business.

That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career and has influenced the kind of clients and communities I feel most passionate about serving.

Although my formal role on the WEDC board is ending, my commitment to women-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, veterans, and the broader small-business community is not. I look forward to continuing this work, strengthening the relationships that began during my time with WEDC, and finding new ways to help entrepreneurs protect and grow what they have worked so hard to create.

I leave this chapter with tremendous gratitude—for the friendships, the trust, the opportunities, and the many inspiring business owners I have had the honor of meeting and supporting.

What a fantastic journey it has been.
